Cosmic Fiber Series
My "Cosmic Fiber" series of paintings is a celebration of the spiritual force that gives life to all. It is everything, everywhere, always. It is life itself. It weaves together all things, all places and all time. It is an expression of Gods Love for us - without it we would not exist. This life force I represent in my paintings is called by many names; the Holy Ghost, the Music of the Spheres, Divine Spirit, the Essence of the Creator, the Force, Logos, the Word of God and countless others. Whatever name you wish to use, it manifests itself in this plane of existence in two forms - Spiritual Light and Spiritual Sound. Most of the world is familiar with the idea of Spiritual Light - Spiritual Sound is less well known. It is however as important if not more to one's quest for Spiritual Freedom. Together the Light and Sound comprise the Holy Spirit. This "Voice of God" flows down into these material worlds and then back into the heavens. As Soul we seek our true home and it is upon the returning wave that we are carried there. You can connect with and experience this river of light and sound in many ways in your daily life. When you align yourself with it, It brings Inner Peace and a higher understanding of life. You can experience first hand Gods Love for you as Soul when in conscious contact with it's Voice - the Light and Sound. It can bring you the Kingdom of Heaven here and now.
These paintings are created with countless layers of brushwork that appear as if some sort of ancient text. The markings have evolved over the years and it has been quite interesting to be a part of this process. I have seen certain markings come in to the mix, become refined and then move on. Some have moved on only to return later and enter again into the refinement process. Hence, the process of these paintings is one of continual refinement…layer upon layer…color over color…concealing and revealing…growing brighter then darker then lighter again…shifting between cools and warms….seeming as though it could go on forever. Someone asked me once how I know when it's done…my answer was and still is "When it sings." I never know which layer will end up in the forefront or which ones will shimmer from the background so I have to treat every layer as though it might be the last. I know that every mark I make on these canvases makes a difference - whether seen or not it has an effect on the final painting. Motivated by efficiency, not laziness - I tried early on to find a shortcut to this process. I was unsuccessful for much like life, we cannot wait till the end to put on the "good brushwork" ..we need to fully embrace every moment of the journey. We can hold fond memories of the past, look gently to the future, but ultimately it is about NOW. We must align our actions with our dreams to fulfill our destinies…... Make every moment count...
